Bargara is a beachside town and is part of the Bundaberg Regional Council.
The community is made up of a diverse range of people from families, farmers, retirement communities and seasonal travellers. There are many new developments occuring along the beach as high rise living and holiday appartments as well as both affrodable luxurious housing on and around the beaches.
Within the township there is a renewal of businesses and facilities with a range of dining and eating options, excellent grocery stores and small family business that can provide for almost any need. With the main centre of Bundaberg being only 15 minutes away residents have access to all major health, sporting and community services of a larger city.

The beach and natural environment dominates the culture of the community. On any day of the week you can see many people enjoying the beautiful foreshore walks and beaches. A few kilometers along the coast to the north is the world famous Mon Repos turtle rookery where you can join a tour to see turtles come up to lay eggs, or even hatch.
