What's Happening in our School?

Reef Guardian students attended inaugural Biosphere Conference

Fifty Bundaberg Region Reef Guardian students travelled to Maryborough for the inaugural Australian Biosphere Conference on Thursday March 14th and had the opportunity to hear and meet the host of ABC Gardening Australia, Costa Georgiadis (pictured here).
Reef Guardian students from Bundaberg Christian College, Bundaberg North State High School, Gooburrum State School, Bargara State School and Kalkie State School presented their school projects at the conference.
The inaugural event was the first of its kind to learn, share and celebrate what it means to be part of a vibrant, healthy and connected Biosphere Reserve community.
The biosphere conference was presented by the Burnett Mary Regional Group, with guest speakers including ABC Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis and many experts.
The UNESCO Biosphere Program is an international effort to establish a scientific basis for the improvement of relationships between people and their environments.
Students in the Bundaberg Region have been actively working to reduce human impact on the environment, the Great Barrier Reef and our endangered turtles.
Mayor Jack Dempsey formally welcomed participants to the conference on Wednesday afternoon.
QLD BULLS Masters Coach our Future Cricket Stars!
Friday March 1st, the QLD Bulls Cricket Masters came to Bargara State School to run a cricket coaching clinic for some of our cricket loving kids. Approximately 40 students were  fortunate enough to participate in a cricket coaching clinic where they engaged in cricket drills, skills and activities to help hone their cricket skills and expertise! They also had the chance to get autographs and photos with the cricket stars on the day!
The smiles and enthusiasm were fantastic to see and we are grateful to the Bulls Masters team for taking the time to inspire and coach our future cricket stars! Thank you from the whole Bargara community!

One of our Mums had this to say: I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all who were involved in organising the Bulls masters to visit our school today.  It was fabulous that not only the older children were invited, for the others that were included it truly meant so much. Bargara state school has quite a large number of students that are involved in cricket in the wider community and if any of you are cricketing families you will understand what fanatics they all become of the Queensland and Australian teams. I was smiling watching from the sideline, the whole group of kids showed so much enthusiasm and effort and did us all proud as a school. Thank you once again, it is moments like these in our young children’s schooling life that will stick with them for many years to come. From a mother of two cricket mad boys
