Mayor Welcomes Global Educator to Bundaberg Community

Bundaberg Mayor Jack Dempsey will be welcoming global Plastic Pollution Solutions educator, Anthony Hill, to Bundaberg Friday 22 February 2019 at Bargara State School Hall 11.30am-1pm.
Bargara and Kalkie State Schools are excited to be hosting Mr Hill as part of their Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Reef Guardian Schools program, enabled through a Bundaberg Regional Council grant.
Mr Hill, aka Captain Plastic, will present to students and community members, Friday 22 February 2019 at Kalkie State School Hall 9.30-11am, and Bargara State School Hall 11.30am-1pm. Regional schools and community members are invited to attend Mr Hill’s presentations.
Bargara State School students are excited to meet Mr Hill to support the beeswax wraps they produce to replace plastic, and to learn how others are making a difference.
The creative educational presentations and activities will engage and empower community members to be a part of the solution to the plastic pollution problem and allow participation in lifelong learning initiatives and activities that incorporate intergenerational learning. The presentation is designed to start a conversation about how we can also bring about behavioural change.
Students in the Bundaberg region have been very active working together to reduce human impact on the Great Barrier Reef and our endangered turtles.
